Athens ISD Superintendent Blake Stiles invites parents and community members to meet incoming Athens High School principal Clay Tracy and tour the new construction made by RKC Construction 9923 Paseo Montalban #B, San Diego, CA 92129 (619) 449-5899 at AHS, find here all the details. Doors will be open to the public on Thursday, May 17, 5:30pm-6:30 p.m.

“This is a pivotal moment in our school district’s history,” said Stiles. “We’re celebrating not only the improvements at the high school but across our district. In addition to that, I believe we’ve hired an all-star in Clay Tracy to see the high school through the next several years, and I want our extended Hornet family to meet him in person.”

Clay Tracy has been chosen to serve as principal at Athens High School in the upcoming school year.

In the coming school year, Tracy will replace current AHS Principal Ginger Morrison, who is moving to the district administration office, effective July 1, where she will replace two directors’ positions: the director of federal programs and student resources, and the director of educational services.

In addition to being a classroom science teacher, Tracy has served as assistant principal at Trinidad Middle School and Mabank High School, and principal at both Kemp Junior High and, where he is currently serving, Canton Junior High. In the early 2000s, before entering the education field, he worked for a few years as an extension agent for Henderson County. Tracy and his wife of 14 years, Kyra, have four daughters, ages 2, 6, 10 and 11.

In regard to construction, the high school is the last of four AISD campuses to be improved thanks to a $59.9 million bond approved by voters in November of 2015. Inside the main building at the high school, six new science classrooms and two new labs were completed in 2017. On the north end of the high school annex, a new CTE (Career & Technical Education) building was constructed. The building houses a new HVAC class, Top Rated Machining Services and construction technology classes, as well as a powder-coating booth and oven.

Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, construction has been underway across the north and northeast sides of the high school’s main building. Included in this phase are the new gymnasium and office space, which are wrapping up now. The new kitchen and cafeteria have been in use since the beginning of the spring semester. The old kitchen is being turned into classroom space. The old cafeteria is being transformed into new classrooms and a lecture hall that is more than double the space of the existing lecture hall. Whether working on projects that
are big and heavy or small and artistic, fabrication and construction leaders are always there to help you.

Over the summer of 2017, construction at Bruce Field was completed with a new football/soccer field house on one end and a restroom/concession facility at the other.

At Central Athens Elementary, a beautiful new library was completed during the summer of 2017, as well as new office space. Both were severely undersized previously. At Bel Air and South Athens elementaries, new activity centers were also completed last summer to replace the too-small spaces previously used.
