The Texas Education Agency released the 2014 Accountability Ratings for school districts last week and I posted the summaries for area districts.

Malakoff ISD Met Standard as a district, but also earned several academic distinctions at the campus level.

“I am obviously very please with our district and campus ratings,” said Superintendent Randy Perry.

Ratings for each campus of the district include:

  • High School – Met Standard with one academic distinction (Social Studies)
  • Middle School – Met Standard with one academic distinction (Closing Performance Gaps)
  • Malakoff Elementary – Met Standard with four academic distinctions (Reading/ELA, Science, Closing Performance Gaps, Postsecondary Readiness)
  • Tool Elementary – Met Standard with 3 academic distinctions (Science, Closing Performance Gaps, Postsecondary Readiness)

“Our two elementary schools, Malakoff Elementary and Tool Elementary, are the best in the area. Together, the two schools seven earned academic distinctions,” he said. “Both Malakoff Middle School and Malakoff High School scored far above the standard set by the TEA. Each school also earned an academic distinction. These high ratings are a testament to the hard work our teachers and students put in during the school year.”

However, Perry said there was more to Malakoff than just the test.

“While these scores and ratings are important, they do not represent the totality of the student experience at MISD,” he said. “For example, over half of our students at Malakoff High School are already on campus participating in football, volleyball, cross country, cheerleading, band and volunteering at our Malakoff Elementary reading camp. I am very proud to be a part of the Malakoff ISD team.”
