Not too many will remember the days of Dot’s Cafe in Brownsboro serving up burgers, cherry cokes, and hand-dipped ice cream. Jack Bell, former council member, will remember. Bell has been named as the Grand Marshal of this year’s Brownsboro Pioneer Days Parade. Bell is 94-years old and is believe to have the distinguished honor of being one of our oldest and longest residing residents. Dot’s dining experience came to an end after a devastating grease fire. According to some residents, they recall Bell being interviewed by television news crews the day of the fire that took place decades ago.

The parade will kick off the fun on Saturday, November 12, at 9 a.m. Parade entries will begin lining up at 7:30 a.m. at the Brownsboro City Park along Stuart Street. The parade route will end at the Brownsboro High School parking lot.

This is the third annual Pioneer Days that was created to celebrate Brownsboro’s rich history. The event will take place at the Brownsboro High and Jr High School properties. Brownsboro is the oldest city in Henderson County and is proud of its heritage. The Brownsboro Chamber of Commerce works hard to spotlight the City’s origins but also to host an event that the community can enjoy.

“Pioneer Days allows us to get together as a community and celebrate Brownsboro’s history. Our residents, businesses, and organizations have worked hard to put us on the map,” says Dusty Wise, a member of the Economic Development Corporation.

Shopping, food vendors and kid activities will fill the day. Music acts are scheduled to entertain the crowds. Ben Duffy will kick things off at 11 A.M. Singer/Songwriter Kyle Lane will be playing for the crowd starting at 12:30 P.M. Horizon Award nominee and the pride of Quitman, Texas, Don Woods, will be taking the stage at 2 P.M. Vendor applications are still being accepted.

Vendor applications are still being accepted. Vendor forms can be downloaded from the website: brownsboro.us. Be sure to save the date, November 12. Family activities begin at 10 A.M. and run all day until 4 P.M. See you at Pioneer Days!
