Bethany is bright, strong, independent and beautiful with zero self-esteem. She has brought her fiancé, Floyd, and his mother, Verna, up to her cabin in the woods, the site of the hunting accident that killed Chance, her first husband. Much to her consternation, he, or rather his ghost, is still there. But only Bethany can see or hear him.

Henderson County Performing Arts presents Ghost of a Chance, the hilarious story of a ghost determined to stay on earth to break up his former wife’s impending marriage. Or does he really have other motives?

Meanwhile, Floyd and his mother, who carries her dead husband’s ashes with her wherever she goes, are afraid Bethany has gone over the edge, talking to, well, nobody they can see. Psychic Crystal tries to mediate the chaos while Adam Lucas just wants to buy the cabin and go. And where did that sack of money come from?

Opening Thursday, July 2 at 7:30, the comedy runs July 2, 3, 9, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. There are 2 p.m. matinees on Sunday July 5 and 12. Reservations are strongly suggested and may be made at 903.675.3908 or online at www.hcpac.org.

The cast includes Robert Sullivan, Cassandra Schwantes, Heath Huffstetter, Kara Catugal, Mary McCreary and George Guillot. The play is directed by J Niswonger and sponsored by King Sand and Gravel and Alma Lee Cattle Company.
