GBC Makes Drug Arrest

On Feb. 20 at approximately 11 p.m., Officer Gabriel Shue of the Gun Barrel City Police Department was dispatched to the area of the Gun Barrel City/Mabank city limits in reference to an unconscious female. Shue located the 22-year-old female, and along with Officer Victor Parras, they aided her until the arrival of EMS.

Upon the female regaining consciousness she made officers aware that her child was with a male subject, later identified as Joshua Seay, 33, of Payne Springs, at the Eagle Inn Hotel in Gun Barrel City. The female stated the male dropped her off and left with the child. After medical personnel transported the female to the hospital, officers proceeded to the Eagle Inn to check the welfare of the 4-year-old child.

Officers made contact with Seay and discovered he had outstanding warrants, taking him into custody. Shue observed narcotics in plain view inside the room, which were accessible to the child. Shue recovered approximately 3 grams of suspected methamphetamine during the investigation. Seay was charged with the outstanding warrants and additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance pg-1 1g. He was also charged with Endangering a Child and Child Protective Services was called.
