A leader on and off the court for the men’s basketball team at Trinity Valley Community College was named Student-Athlete of the Month on Monday.

Stephen Edwards, a 6-2 sophomore guard out of Muskogee, Okla., received the award at the first Cardinal Pride Luncheon of the 2016 spring semester at Hunan’s.

“Stephen is a great kid and a great student-athlete,” fourth-year Cardinal basketball coach Kris Baumann said. “He takes care of business on and off the court.”

Edwards, who transferred to TVCC from Santa Clara University, has a 3.78 GPA and is currently averaging 6.9 points, 2.2 assists and 1.7 rebounds per game for the No. 1-ranked Cardinals.

In another award presentation, Blake Williamson, the Director of Student Engagement at the college, was the recipient of the Cardinal Award, presented to a faculty/staff member who goes above and beyond the call of duty to support coaches and athletes.
