Drug Charges Added to Warrant Arrest

On Saturday, Aug. 1, Deputy Ray Yockey along with Deputy Josh Rickman was in the area of Emma Street, located in the City of Athens, attempting to locate a subject identified as Jamey Barina. The deputies were attempting to locate Barina in reference to him having an outstanding capias warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. While on Emma Street, the deputies observed a vehicle that Jamey Barina was believed to be driving. Yockey and Rickman then observed Jamey Barina standing outside the vehicle.

Yockey and Rickman made contact with Barina and placed him under arrest for the outstanding warrant. After Barina was placed under arrest he was also found to be in possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana and a packet of hemp gummies, and under 1 gram of methamphetamines, a State Jail Felony. Barina was charged for being possession of the narcotics and transported to the Henderson County Jail.

In the state of Texas, a class B misdemeanor is punishable by no more than 180 days confinement and a fine not to exceed $2,000. A state jail felony is punishable by 180 days to no more than 2 years confinement, and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
