Dr. Helen Reid, Provost of Trinity Valley Community College’s Health Science Center, has been notified by the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) that she has been selected as one of the initial inductees into the OADN Academy for Associate Degree Nursing (AADN).
“What makes this special for me is that Mary Hardy, the Founding Dean of TVCC’s ADN program, and my boss and mentor, was one of the three founding members of the Texas Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, which led to the creation of the national organization,” said Dr. Reid. “She would be quite proud of OADN now and how much it is doing for associate degree nursing.”
TVCC Interim President Dr. Jerry King said, “Dr. Helen Reid has provided the leadership, guidance, and direction for the nursing program at Trinity Valley Community College to be recognized as one of the best in the country. We are proud that Dr. Reid’s dedication and commitment to the health science students, health science faculty, nursing profession, and TVCC for over 20 years is being recognized by the AADN.”
OADN, headquartered in Pensacola, FL, promotes Associate Degree Nursing through leadership, collaboration, advocacy and education to ensure excellence in the future of health care and professional nursing practice.
The Academy of Associate Degree Nursing (AADN) program recognizes associate degree nursing educators and others committed to associate degree nursing education who model exemplary dedication to nursing education and practice. Associate degree nursing educators are historically responsible for the first nursing education experience of half of the nursing workforce, and set the example for associate degree nursing graduates to continue their education to become the nursing leaders of tomorrow. The AADN program has been established to recognize the work of outstanding associate degree nursing educators or supporters, and their remarkable contributions as role models for students and other faculty colleagues.
