It’s time to get trotting!

The Hope Springs Water Turkey Trot is Thursday morning, Nov. 22, at the Cain Center in Athens. The race includes a 5K and a 1-mile walk.

The good news is you can register the morning of the race at 7 a.m. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. with walkers taking off at 8:05.

Registration is $40 with students and children under 12 just $20.

The event benefits Hope Springs Water.

“We are a bottled water that devotes 100 percent of our profits to drilling water wells, building sanitation and delivering public health and hygiene education around the world,” said Director of Development Jessica Richardson.

While the Turkey Trot is in its 21st year, this is just the second year for Hope Springs.

“Two years ago, when it looked like the Cain Center was going to be closing up shop, they asked us if we wanted to take it over as a longtime tradition here in Athens,” Richardson said. “And we said, ‘Of course!’”

All of the runner fees go directly to water projects.
