CCL Chamber taking applications for Leadership Class

Press release

Leadership Cedar Creek Lake, class of 2017-2018, sponsored by the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, is forming a new class for the eleventh year. The purpose of leadership classes of this type is to develop new community leaders and enhance the skills and community awareness of existing leaders, plus teach techniques to become better team players and to form bonds in business, civic, and personal dealings. Participants in these classes graduate better prepared to take on the role as members of boards of directors and in elected positions such as city council and school boards.

Chamber President Jo Ann Hanstrom said, “We’ve always purposefully keep the cost low ($350) for our classes without compromising content.” She went on to explain that the chamber’s Leadership program is planned to keep the time away from work to around three hours, one day a month and experience has shown that this works nicely for their class size.”

The Texas Legislature won’t be in session in 2018, but this year’s class will have the option of travelling by bus with chamber members and citizens for a one-day visit to our state capitol in February, 2019 for our traditional Cedar Creek Lake Day in Austin. The fee for the 2019 legislative trip is included in this year’s Leadership class fee, adding extra value.

If you are interested in further developing your skills as a community volunteer, this class is designed to fit your need. An application will need to be completed, and you can receive the application electronically by contacting the chamber at 903.887.3152 or [email protected]. Class size is limited to 12 participants, deadline for returning the application is September 22 and Orientation is set for September 26. Orientation will be facilitated by E. H. “Bud” Henry, retired US Army Colonel. Bud has held numerous leadership positions in various entities since his retirement from the US Army and is uniquely qualified to facilitate Leadership Cedar Creek Lake Orientation.
