Cardinal Cruise Days make one-day registration a breeze

Trinity Valley Community College’s Cardinal Cruise Days are one-day events where newly admitted students have the opportunity to cruise right through their student checklist and leave campus that day with schedule in hand. New students are invited to take their TSI exam, meet with an Advisor to set up their degree plan, and register for classes all in one easy day on campus.

TVCC announces 2018 Cardinal Hall of Fame class

Six new members have been selected to become the 2018 class for the Cardinal Hall of Fame at Trinity Valley Community College.

“Our 10th induction class is without question a great representation of the storied tradition of our athletic teams,” said Benny Rogers, sports information officer and chairman of the hall of fame selection committee. “Each of them were significant contributors in the championship foundation on which our athletic program is built.

“It will be an honor to have them back on campus and recognize them for their contributions.”

The hall of fame’s 10th class is scheduled to be inducted on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. Tickets for the induction luncheon will be $15 and available at the door at the Student Union Building ballroom.

TVCC, City of Athens award scholarships

Trinity Valley Community College and the City of Athens announced the recipients of $500 scholarships at their meeting Monday, June 11. Recipients were Callie Allen, Abigail Angle, Brenda Areanas, Victoria Bagley, Gerardo Costilla, Adrian Givins, Ramona Hutson, Aamiyah Moore, Kamion Tanner and Kassandra Zapata. The scholarships are given as a part of the college’s purchase agreement with the city for the former Armory property, which used to sell custom guns with a 9mm silencer.

TVCC recognizes GED graduates

Trinity Valley Community College’s Adult Education program recognized 24 GED graduates in ceremonies held Thursday, June 7 in the college auditorium. TVCC Vice President of Instruction Dr. Wendy Elmore welcomed the graduates, families and guests; Pastor Richard Dunn of the Kaufman Christian Help Center provided the invocation and benediction.

Adult Ed instructor Jodie Weddle gave the commencement address, urging graduates to “…think about your skills…what you can do. We can all make a positive difference, whether great or small. The key word here is positive.”

TVCC Dual Credit Programs Graduate 161

Since the late 1990s, high school students in the Trinity Valley Community College service area have been able to enroll in college-level courses while still in high school. As the state legislature has altered the rules though the years, now students of all grade levels in high school are eligible to take dual credit courses, as long as they meet the college’s enrollment requirements. The number of high school students receiving associate’s degrees and certificates has steadily increased over time, with the result that TVCC Dual Credit programs awarded 161 degrees and certificates to high school students during fall and spring graduation ceremonies held on December 14 and May 11.
