TVCC donates supplies to CPS children

The faculty, staff and students of the Trinity Valley Community College Terrell campus led by Tyson Spizzirri and Amanda Leyva recently collected 25 bags of items to donate to local children who are placed in Child Protective Services. Tyson and Kristin Spizzirri adopted their son after he was placed in CPS and know first-hand the reality that these children face when they are removed from their home with only the clothes they are wearing and the items they grab to be taken to a new place.

TVCC graduates 495

Press release

Trinity Valley Community College conferred degrees on a spring semester record 495 students during commencement ceremonies held Thursday and Friday, May 11-12 at Cardinal Gym. Thursday, 106 new nurses graduated from Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) programs and Friday an additional 389 associate degrees and certificates of completion were awarded.

TVCC President Dr. Jerry King told graduates, “…as you walk out the door tonight after graduation, new doors and new opportunities and new challenges will await you. We encourage you use what you have learned at TVCC to meet those challenges. Continue to work hard, be positive, stay motivated, be persistent, be focused, be determined, use what you have learned to solve problems, make good choices, and don’t forget the importance of lifelong learning. We know that you can and will be successful in whatever in life you choose to endeavor.”

Volleyball team makes it three straight in Cardinal Cup competition

Don’t look now, but the volleyball team at Trinity Valley Community College is building a Cardinal Cup dynasty.

Tuesday night at the seventh annual TVCC Sports Banquet at Athens Country Club, the Lady Cardinals were again awarded the Cardinal Cup — the prize for a fall/spring semester-long competition in which the college’s athletic department teams/groups are awarded points for supporting each other and for community service.

Coach Tosha Spain’s squad tallied 584 points to take the top spot over the softball team and hoist the Cardinal Cup trophy for a third straight year and fourth time overall.
