Services for Willadean Hooper, 85, of Eustace are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday May 6, 2013 at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Glosup and Bro. David Harkins officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Burial will be in Baker Cemetery, Henderson County.
She passed away May 3, 2013 in Plano.
Mrs. Hooper was born June 21, 1927 in Walnut Springs to Robert Candler and Edna Davis Pennington.
Willadean was Baptist by faith and a member of the China Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing lead steel guitar. She was a great cook and she took great pride in her yard and flower beds. She was married 48 years to her husband, Clyde before his death in 1995.
Surviving are son, Mick Hooper of Arlington; brother, Bob and Hazel Pennington of Canton; brother, R. C. Pennington, Jr. of Canton; grandson, William Travis and Leisa Hooper of Grand Rapids, Mich.; granddaughter, Tracy White of Graham; five great-grandchildren, Cassie, Christian, Caitlyn Riley and Taylor.
Willadean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Clyde Hooper; sister-in-law, Billie Ann Pennington; sister, Wilma Gean Pennington.
Family will receive friends Monday 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Sam DuBose, 64, of Mabank, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday May 6, 2013 at Eubank Chapel with Pastor Mike Roberson, Bro. Ronnie Daniell officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mabank.
He passed away May 3, 2013 in Dallas.
Mr. DuBose was born March 1, 1949 in Dallas to Joel and Imodene Gore DuBose.
Sam was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton and a former member of Elm Grove Church. He grew up in Grand Prairie where he graduated and attended Dallas Baptist College. He loved baseball, Elvis, fishing and his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Nancy DuBose of Mabank; daughter, Angela DuBose of Mabank; daughter, Jana and Steven Taylor of Ben Wheeler; granddaughters, Samantha and Julianna Taylor of Ben Wheeler; sister, Sharon and Kirk Evans of Wills Point; sister, Sherrie Furguson of Grand Prairie; sister, Sarah Tucker and Eddie Ashford of Grand Prairie; aunt, Helen Hannah of The Colony; Bro-in-Heart, Jerry Lambert of Okla.; a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins nieces, nephews and friends.
Joel was preceded in death by his father, Joel DuBose; mother, Imodene DuBose; in-laws, Lewis and Aileen Gray.
Pallbearers are Ken Collins, Aaron Evans, Chris Evans, T J Gray, Guy Taylor, Issac Horton, Terry Kennedy, Jerry Lambert, Merritt Shephard, and Bobby Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Crawford, Sears Line Hual, Wal-Mart Drivers-Palestine, Victory Sunday School Class-FB Canton.
Family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Jerry L. Gentry, 74, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine. The services will be officiated by Bro. Frankie Wright and Bro. Tommy Derden.
Mr. Gentry passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Athens.
Jerry Leon Gentry was born July 19, 1938 in Dallas, the son of Althon Gentry and Jessie Herrington Gentry. He was a member of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church of Palestine. Jerry enjoyed making tapes and taking photo’s. He loved riding his bike and once rode in a marathon bike race. He was a great friend and family member and will be missed by all he knew and loved.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving caretakers and special friends; Betty Miller, William Miller, James Wright, Donald Wright, Janice Rutledge, Tommy Derden and Margie Derden
Guy Mann Horton, 80, of Athens, passed away April 30, 2013 from Alzheimer’s disease. He was born April 11, 1933, the youngest of 12 children of Hyter and Nelia Horton, one of the pioneering families of the Blackjack community.
After graduating from Brownsboro High School in 1950, Guy left the farm fields to pursue his love of education, a passion that would become his lifelong career. At the age of 20, he graduated from East Texas State College with a degree in journalism, and was soon drafted into the Army (1st Cavalry Division) during the Korean War. Stationed in Tokyo, he served as a correspondent for the “Stars and Stripes” and as editor of “The Cavalier.”
After his service, he returned to East Texas State and earned a Master’s degree in journalism. During his first semester as a professor at San Angelo College, he met Linda Green, and they began a wonderful 54-year journey together.
In 1969, Guy earned a Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Missouri, where he served 25 years before retiring as Executive Assistant to the President. He was well-respected throughout the nation’s higher-education community for his professionalism and ethical standards, and he received numerous state and national awards during his tenure.
Guy’s greatest joy was his family, and he never lost touch with his Blackjack roots. He loved hosting the annual Horton Reunion and was adored by many generations of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a passionate gardener, football fan, bass fisherman, worldwide traveler and volunteer. Guy was a kind and generous man, blessed with an incredibly dry sense of humor. He was loved by many, and was a true friend to everyone he met.
Guy was an active member of the Athens First United Methodist Church and Builders Sunday School class, and proudly served in many leadership positions within his church and community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda; his daughters, Ellen (Ken) Shriner of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Amy (Robert) Hayhurst of Houston; and his beloved grandson, Nathan Hayhurst.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Faulk Landrum and Barbara Robberson officiating.
Burial will precede the service at 10 a.m. at the Blackjack Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Graveside services and interment for Ann Adair, 91, Murchison have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Joe Wood officiating.
Mrs. Adair passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Athens.
She was born Feb. 9, 1922 to the late Eligah and Lula May Nash Turner and had been a resident of Murchison since 1951. Ann was a member of First Baptist Church, Murchison. She loved to cook and loved to sew and piece quilts. During her stay at South Place Nursing Home she had become the personal seamstress for the residents and staff. Her most cherished moments where spent with her grandchildren participating and supporting them during all of their activities.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Adair; sisters, Katherine Gibbs, Maggie Smith, Barbara Winslett, Ailene Mink; brother Albert Turner.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Pat Baker, Murchison; brother George Turner and wife Neome, Canton; grandsons, Jeff Baker and wife Marilyn, Lindale, Ken Baker and wife Diane, Murchison, Jason Baker and wife Jennifer, Frisco; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Frankie Rounsaval; sister-in-law Ann Richardson; brother-in-law Billy Adair and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like give special thanks to the staff, nurses, aides of South Place Nursing Home for their love and excellent care of Ann and also to Bristol Pathways Hospice for their excellent care and love shown to her.
No visitation is scheduled.
