Memorial services for Rosemary Abbott, 54, Athens were held 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Post Oak Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Rick Bailey officiating.

Mrs. Abbott died May 9, 2013 in Athens.

She was born Feb. 17, 1959 in Dallas to the late Everett Bradley and Rosie Mae Jackson McMillan. Mrs. Abbott was a loving mother and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Jennifer Marie Abbott; granddaughter Nevaeh Angel Kay Nally.

Survivors include husband, Randy Lynn Abbott, Sr.; sons, Randy Lynn Abbott, Jr. and Brittany, Athens, Ricky Joe Abbott and Shelby, Athens; grandchildren, Randy L. Abbott, III, Serenity Renee Abbott, Shyanne Brille Abbott, all of Athens; brothers, Joseph Bradley McMillan and wife Deborah, Delaware, Ohio, Steven Wayne McMillan and wife, Carolyn, Dallas, Jimmy Ray McMillan, Dallas; sister, Peggy Jean Mayo and husband, Orville, Farmersville.

Funeral services for Darla Holleman, 51, of Athens are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Chuck Hinton and Sister Sandy Hinton officiating.

She passed away Monday May 6, 2013 in Athens.

Darla Elaine Holleman was born Oct. 27, 1961 in Sweetwater, Texas, the daughter of Alfred Lee Holleman and Linda Elaine DuPont Grimes. She was a member of the Athens Church of God and sang gospel music. Darla had a love for writing poetry and photography. She especially loved her children, grandchildren, and her dogs, Roxie, Gracie and Mr. Whisper. Darla was a loving daughter, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Obituary: Corene Jacobs

Services for Corene Jacobs, 96, of Martins Mill are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Eubank Chapel with Bro. Matt Parker, Bro. Steve Glosup officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery, Martins Mill.

She passed away May 6, 2013 in Tyler.

Mrs. Jacobs was born April 18, 1917 in Hall County, Ga., to William Britton and Marcella Theodocia Garner Smallwood.

Corene was a member of the Martins Mill Baptist Church. She lived in the Garland area for 30 years before moving to Martins Mill in 1977. She enjoyed being a homemaker and gardening. Corene was always happy and enjoyed life.

Surviving are brother, Curtis and Darlene Smallwood of Canton; sister, Frances Covington of Canton; sister, Bonnell Childers of Daingerfield; sister, Gladys Williford of Greenville; sister, Mildred Cagle of Bonham; numerous nieces and nephews.

Corene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Monroe Jacobs; brother Elmer Smallwood; brother R. B. Smallwood; sister Evelyn Smallwood; sister Mary Taylor; sister Ella Mae Holford.

Pallbearers are Austin Parker, Trey Cronk, Shaun Parker, and Larry Smallwood.

Family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Sandra Jane Barton, 69, Athens are scheduled for noon Thursday, May 9, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. C. William McNatt officiating. Burial will follow in Judson Cemetery near Cayuga in Anderson County under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.

Mrs. Barton died Sunday, May 5 in Athens.

She was born Feb. 27, 1944 in Knox City to the late Bacyl Weldon and Margaret Hazel Johnston Barnett. Jane grew up in Vernon where she graduated from high school in 1962. She later attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls. She moved to Athens in 1981 and worked for Argon Medical a number of years as manager of the Department of Human Resources. Jane served as a volunteer for Court Appointed Special Advocates Association (CASA) , was a member of First Presbyterian Church and several book clubs. She was an avid reader, loved music and was extremely fond of her special cat, Miss Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Barton in 2003 and a sister Jo Helen Stanfield.

Survivors include her daughters Kimberly Pulaski and husband Robb, Rebecca White Griffin and husband Kurt, all of Plano; sister, Marge Logsdon, Amarillo; grandchildren Peyton, Allie and Robb Pulaski, Joe Nick, Luke and Olivia Griffin; stepchildren, Kim Scott, Athens, Gary Barton, Dallas, Paula Steele, Austin; step-grandchildren, Andrew, Bradley, Harrison and Ellen Scott.

Pallbearers will be Robb Pulaski, Andrew Scott, Kurt Griffin, Bradley Scott, Joe Griffin and Harrison Scott.

Obituary: Charlene Thomas

Charlene Thomas of Mabank passed away May 4, 2013 at the age of 53.

Charlene was born on Nov. 28, 1959 in Dallas to Charles and Mona Cowart.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Wright of Mabank; daughter, Lesley Wright of Mabank.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mona Cowart.

Services are pending at a later date under the direction of Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points.
