HCNotes: FM 317 is going to take some time

I am posting this again for those who may have missed it … but the news isn’t encouraging for people waiting for repairs to FM 317 near the Fish and Game Club Lake. The road was damaged extensively during torrential rains in May.

The TxDOT District Office in Tyler issued a press release on Friday saying: “The road will remain closed to traffic indefinitely as stabilization work is conducted and plans for a permanent repair to the dam are developed. This job is being coordinated with the Corp of Engineers and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).”

So it looks like we’ll have to keep going around for now.

HCNotes: Congratulations, Will Burgin and Guitars Etc.

Will Burgin
Will Burgin

We wanted to say a big GREAT JOB to Will Burgin at Guitars Etc. in Athens, who was in Nashville, Tenn. recently to pick up a National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) award as one of the Top 100 music dealers in the country.

We know Will very well because of all the cool things he does in town and because he handled the sound for us at the Uncle Fletch Festival last year. Many people don’t know that Will was falling down sick that day, but hung in there for Uncle Fletch.

So congrats, Will and all the crew at Guitars Etc.! … And Michael said he’ll be in soon. He needs new strings and some picks. 🙂

HCNotes: Prayers for DJ Warren

DJ Warren, the indomitable spirit behind the Athens Farmers Market, was injured Saturday while cleaning up from the market.

We hear she is on her way home now after spending the past two days in the hospital. We don’t want to talk out of school about what happened, but will say that while she wasn’t in mortal danger that the injury was bad enough to require surgery.

We want to send out our GET WELL SOON wishes to her and hope you will join us.
