Bruce Bell sweeps Tyler District Car Show

On Saturday, June 9, the 4th Annual Car, Truck, & Motorcycle show was held at the Malakoff High School.

The Tyler District consists of approximately 30 churches, including Allen Chapel A. M. E. in Athens, Bethel A. M. E./Union Station A. M. E. in Moore Station, and Johnson Chapel A. M. E. in Malakoff.

Funds from this project will go toward helping the smaller churches in the District who need financial aid and community projects throughout the District. It will also go toward the YPD (youth) with their projects and aid them in attending youth conferences in Texas and outside of Texas.

Winners in the 80’s to Older Trucks were: Randy Betz, Rick Bussey, Edward Myers, Gary McClaskey and top winner in this category was Sandy Riffenburg from Tool, Texas.

Winners in the 80’s to Older Cars were: Ronald Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Donnie Boyd, Walt Riffenburg, and top winner in this category was Bruce Bell from DeSoto, Texas.

Winners in the 81’s to Newer Trucks were: Adophus Fisher, Sr., and top winner in this category was Jasper Davis from Arlington, Texas.

Winners in the 81’s to Newer Cars were: O. B. Scruggs, Mario Davis, and top winner in this category was Rodney and Kera Parish from Cedar Hill, Texas.

In the Motorcycle division, the winners were: Sandy Riffenburg, Hartley Wilcox, and top winner in this category was Darrell Paris from Frankston, Texas.

Other categories winners were: Adophus Fisher, Sr. Best Interior from Malakoff, Texas; however, Bruce Bell made a clean sweep as the winner in Best Engine, Best Paint, and Overall Best Show; along with door prize winnings of Six Flags Over Texas tickets, Texas Motor Speedway tickets, and a two night stay at the Omni Hotel in Dallas.

“We had a wonderful time here and was happy to give support to the Tyler District. But most of all we are very pleased with our prizes and we will be back on August 4 for the Henderson County Black History Committee Car Show to give support and to win more door prizes,” said Mrs. Bruce Bell.
