Dave McGee, pastor of Dogwood Church in Athens, won the Brookshire’s Thanksgiving Grocery Dash fundraiser for the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy (ACPA).

As the winner, Dave earned a $50 meat gift certificate plus as many groceries as he could gather in a 90-second dash through the store.

The dash took place Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Brookshire’s in Athens. Dave completed The Dash with help from his wife, Debra.

“We had a great time,” Dave said. “I made Debra do the running, but we had a great time.”

Dave donated his groceries to the Lila Lane Outreach Ministries, a “Christian-based residential facility dedicated to helping men overcome their pasts.”

Charles Beasley said ACPA is “a great organization and a great school; we just wanted to help them out and benefit them any way we could and we felt this would be a great way for us to help them out.”

Charles said it was his first dash, but hopefully not his last.

“We want to do it again next year,” he said.

  1. What a wonderful and greatly appreciated surprise to have Pastor Dave McGee donate his winnings from the Brookshire’s Thanksgiving Grocery Dash fundraiser for the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy (ACPA).
We are truly blessed to have supporters like Pastor McGee who support Lila Lane’s goal of replacing old habits and attitudes to create men with strong spiritual lives and new ways of thinking and dealing with life.
    Thank you Athens!
