Athens officials say no tornado

Athens officials do not believe a tornado touched down in the city last night.

“We do not believe there was a tornado. There were none spotted here that we have knowledge of, nor were there reports given to us by any other agency including the National Weather Service,” said City Manager Philip Rodriguez.

“It is clear we had heavy, damaging winds. Thankfully, all damage appears to be to property only, with no injuries or loss of life,” he added.
