AHS students advance to state

The Technology Student Association Regional Meet was held in Carthage March 19-20. This was the third year for Athens High School to have a chapter, and its members entered a total of 88 projects or entries. Of those, 87 advanced to state competition. Some notable mentions are Tucker Hall with extemporaneous speech, Noah Sikes and Toby Rhodes with Technology Problem Solving, and a team of students competing in On-Demand Video. All three of those categories are possible national-qualifying events. Other projects included a range of photography, video editing, desktop publishing and more. “I could not be more proud of these students and their diligent, hard work to make this chapter the best it can possibly be,” said TSA Chapter Advisor Julie Patterson. “Taking all but one entry to state is a pretty big accomplishment.” Pictured (back row, from left) are Rhodes, Hall, Reagan Gore, Sikes, Armando Ceballos, Ashton Vasquez, (front row, from left) Kathryn Martinez, Jackie Rodriguez, Gianella Castaneda and Kathy Tellez.
